Gaining popularity in the coatings industry are Graphene or Graphene infused products. In this article we’ll discuss briefly the science behind why it’s gaining popularity and what some coating options are for your vehicle.
While Silica (Sio2) AKA ceramic coatings are really great, it has its wear & performance limitations. It’s important to note, that graphene coating products are not actually 100% graphene. Silica is still used, however infusing the mixture with graphene amplifies all that we love about Ceramic coatings.
Notice the photo of the honeycomb pattern above - that is a graphene bond. Much stronger/harder than silica products.
This means better scratch resistance, better slickness, increased beading (hydrophobic) properties & more resistance to water spotting since it’s harder for minerals and chemicals to stay put.
There are more graphene products becoming available as time moves forward. I’m happy to inform you that IGL recently introduced two of their most popular coatings to the industry, now enhanced with Graphene Reinforcement!
