Got Water Spots?

Water Spots: Areas of dried mineral or chemical deposits left on a surface after being allowed to air dry.

Hard water is high in mineral content vs soft water. Sprinkler systems are notorious for hard water, even some auto washes may have it. Another culprit is chemicals found in wash soaps and other chemicals including ones in auto washes.

How can these be avoided? While water softener is an option, often times this is not available at every auto wash or detail shop or may not be a viable option for your residence. To keep your clear coat free of absorbed minerals or other chemicals, the single best thing to do after your vehicle is washed, is to gently dry with a clean dedicated microfiber towel.

Waffle Weave towels by design hold water well. They can be purchased from auto and department stores. Although, I do recommend ordering from “The Rag Company” and don’t worry- yes they are on amazon. The design and quality is rather good. When washing your microfiber towels, be sure to use color free detergent or microfiber specific detergent and always keep them separate from your cotton rags or other clothes. Microfiber should only be washed with other microfiber materials.

Enjoy the below video for the remedy and a brief explanation of how water spotting is caused. Afterwards, check out more info on exterior care here!
